APPLYING TO UNIVERSITIES

The choice in the U.K. is immense. There are over 50,000 degree courses on offer in British universities and over 300 institutions in the UCAS scheme – the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. Students can only apply to five. Choosing which degree courses are the most suitable in terms of the subject/s, the entrance requirements, the chances of being made an offer of a place, the quality of the teaching, as well as the university’s location and environment is a complex business. The education consultancy offers in depth advice to students on all of these aspects of the application process.

We also advise students on how to write effective personal statements and how to prepare for any entrance tests such as the LNAT (Law), BMAT / UKCAT (Medicine), TSA (Thinking Skills Assessment), STEP / MAT (Mathematics), PAT (Physics) which are required by leading universities and medical schools.

APPLICATIONS TO U.K. UNIVERSITIES: EUROPEANS

The consultancy is accredited by UCAS and so students are able to apply to university through the consultancy in the same way as if they were attending a British school. For European students taking exams such as the ITALIAN ESAME DI STATO, French or Belgian Baccalaureat, we are able to advise on the equivalence of their exam grades with U.K. entrance requirements. We liaise with schools regarding academic references; we arrange for them to be translated; we monitor each student’s university offers and advise students throughout the ten months of the application process until they have firmly accepted a place and secured accommodation. Throughout the application process, if students have any queries, they are able to contact their UCAS Consultant by Skype at pre-set times.

Words of wisdom: Senator Fulbright on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Fulbright international educational exchange program, 1976
‘International educational exchange is the most significant current project designed to continue the process of humanizing mankind to the point, we would hope, that men can learn to live in peace–eventually even to cooperate in constructive activities rather than compete in a mindless contest of mutual destruction….We must try to expand the boundaries of human wisdom, empathy and perception, and there is no way of doing that except through education.’
